Setting Up
Writing the Questions We Ask AI Assistants
Every week we ask AI assistants the questions your customers would ask, and record whether your business came up. You decide what the questions are.

Where to Add Your Questions
Open your dashboard, go to AI Visibility, and scroll to Your Questions. You can keep up to 30 questions. We ask ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, and Perplexity directly, and for Google's AI Overviews we run each question as a Google search and read the AI answer Google shows above its own results.
Where Our Suggestions Come From
Once you have saved keywords on the Rankings screen and told us where your customers search from, Suggested from your keywords lists a question for each search, up to 30 at a time. They are phrased the way somebody actually talks to an assistant, in four different shapes, because nobody types search terms at a chatbot.
“emergency plumber tacoma” becomes “who is the best emergency plumber in Tacoma?”. Every suggestion names your town, which is why we wait for you to set it.
What Makes a Good Question
The point of the measurement is to find out whether an assistant names you when a customer asks it for a recommendation. So the questions worth your slots are the ones a customer would genuinely ask — not the ones that mention you.
- Ask the way a person asks. “Who should I call for a blocked drain in Leeds?” beats “blocked drain Leeds”.
- Do not name your business in the question. An assistant will happily talk about a company you named. That tells you nothing about whether it would have raised you on its own, which is the only thing being measured here.
- Cover the decisions, not just the services. “What does it cost to rewire a three-bed house?” and “how do I choose an electrician?” are questions your customers ask before they ask for a name, and being present in those answers is worth as much.
- Include the place if place decides who they hire. The same question with and without a town gets two different answers.
When Your Questions Get Asked
The whole list is asked every week, and the answers are kept word for word so you can read exactly what was said. Weekly is the honest pace: these answers change slowly, and asking more often would only add noise.
A question you add today is asked on the next round, not straight away, and the screen says so when it saves. There is no way to edit a question: you add one, or you remove one. Remove asks before it acts, because removing takes that question out of the next round and takes its answers off Question by Question — the confirmation says so, with Yes, stop and Keep beside it.
What the First Few Weeks Show
Most businesses start at zero mentions, and that is information rather than a failure. One week is a reading, not a verdict — assistants vary their answers to identical questions, so the pattern over several weeks is the part worth acting on.
What the answers are good for immediately is the other half: who gets named instead of you, and what those businesses have on their pages that you do not.
Common Questions
Why Not Just Ask ChatGPT Myself?
You can, and you should — but your own account carries your history and your location, so it answers you differently from how it answers a stranger. We ask from outside any account, from the place you set, and keep every answer so you can see the pattern rather than one day's reading.
Do You Ask Every Question of Every Assistant?
Yes, every week, and the screen shows the full grid of questions against assistants so you can see which ones we could not get an answer from. A question that could not be asked is shown as no answer rather than counted against you.
Can You Get My Business Mentioned?
No, and nobody honestly can. We measure whether you are named and show you who was named instead. What you do with that is a change to your own site — the audit tells you which changes make you easier for an assistant to read and quote.
