Billing and Your Account
The Emails We Send, and How to Stop Them
Some of our email is optional, some of it you choose, and a little always arrives. This is exactly where each line falls, and what one click stops.

Three Kinds of Email
- The optional kind
- The follow-up emails after a free website audit — each one explains a finding from your report, and a later one says when a fresh audit can be run. You ask for them with the box on the audit form, and unsubscribing ends them permanently.
- The Pro emails you choose
- Site alerts, ranking changes, the weekly summary and the monthly audit. Each one can be switched off on its own, for each site, and switched back on whenever you like.
- The kind that always arrives
- Your report when it is ready, a sign-in link you asked for two minutes ago, a receipt, a notice that billing failed, a warning before your data is deleted. These are what you just asked for, or what you need to know about your account.
How to Unsubscribe
Every marketing email carries an unsubscribe link. It opens a page with one button, Unsubscribe, and pressing it is honoured immediately. There is nothing else to click and no account needed. It applies to the address it was sent to. Your report links keep working afterwards, and nothing about your subscription changes.
Each Pro email has its own Unsubscribe at the bottom too. It stops that kind of email about that site — the weekly summary, say — and leaves the others running. Above it is a box that says Not interested in this email? Choose which emails you get. That opens all four switches for the site, with no sign-in, so you can keep the ones you want.
Which Emails Are Which
Optional — stopped by unsubscribing:
- The follow-up emails after a free website audit.
Pro emails — each switched off by its own Unsubscribe, or chosen in Email Preferences:
- An alert when a Canary Page breaks, and the note when it is fixed.
- An email when one of your tracked keywords moves into or out of the top 3, top 10 or top 100.
- The weekly summary of what the daily check saw.
- Your monthly audit, and what changed since last month.
Always sent — not stopped by unsubscribing:
- Your audit report when it is ready.
- A sign-in link, whenever you ask for one.
- Anything about money — the welcome message, a failed payment, a cancellation confirmation, a reminder one week before a pause ends.
- Anything about who the account belongs to — a link to confirm a new address, a warning to the current one when a change is asked for, and a note to the old one once it has been made.
- A warning before we delete your history.
What We Never Do With Your Address
We never sell or share it. Our business is audits, not your inbox.
A hard bounce or a spam complaint stops everything, including the product emails. That one has no exceptions — it is the only way to keep mail from us landing for everybody else.
Choosing Which of These You Get
Pro subscribers decide each of the four under Settings, in Email Preferences — or, without signing in, from the Choose which emails you get link in any of those emails: when something breaks, when a search moves, the weekly summary, and the monthly audit. All four start switched on. Someone you invite to your team chooses their own in the same place: theirs start switched off, unless you ticked Send this person alerts when you invited them.
Turning one off changes nothing about the work. We still check your pages once a day and your keywords every day, and everything we find is on your dashboard either way — the switch only decides what reaches your inbox.
The same screen can copy up to three other people on whichever of these you have switched on. We ask them first, and nothing reaches them unless they agree; their own unsubscribe link stops their copies alone and leaves yours running. A team member’s unsubscribe link works the same way: it stops that email for them, for that site, and nothing else.
Common Questions
I Unsubscribed and Still Got an Email.
Unsubscribing from one of the four Pro emails stops that one, for that site — the others keep coming until you switch them off too. A report, a receipt or a sign-in link always arrives, because it is the thing you just asked for. If what arrived was an email you had already switched off, tell us: that would be a fault, and we would want to fix it.
Can I Get the Reports but Not the Follow-Ups?
Yes, and that is what unsubscribing does. The follow-ups are the optional part; reports, alerts and anything about your account carry on.
Is Unsubscribing Permanent?
For the follow-up emails, yes. It is not a preference we forget after a while, and there is no re-consent prompt waiting for you. Running another free audit later still gets you the report, but the follow-ups stay stopped. A Pro email you switched off stays off until you switch it back on, in Settings or from the link in any of those emails.
